About

There is a pervasive, pernicious, and persistent lack of pragmatism in the political discourse of America today. Liberal and Conservative ideologies have taken over the Democratic and Republican parties, slowly spreading each faction apart over the course of the last 20 years. Centrism, in congress, is nearly extinct. The problem, ultimately, is that their ideological ideas are stale, rhetorical, and branded to historical contexts without little reshaping to modern day differences. The Tea Party and the Libertarian factions, predominantly held within the Republican Party, and the ideological right, are growing in popularity. The first of those two exploit a version of radical conservatism, and the latter of which focusing on laissez faire approach to the system as a whole, even within the Libertarian factions there are stark differences with respect to the philosophical roots. Democrats, on the other hand, have their own factions, tying social liberalism, post-modern perspectives, and quasi-socialist ideas together. Where one group overwhelmingly focuses on the economic component of life and liberty as the end all be all of political life and success, the other party almost avoids it, believing it to be almost irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

Here, at Willis and Law, we bring a much needed and necessary dose of pragmatism into politics. Our mission here is to ultimately reshape the political discourse in America, starting with this blog, and from a left of center view of the system. We have grown increasingly contemptuous towards the on going clash between Republicans and Democrats, Libertarians, Conservatives, and Liberals alike. Here, we believe that both parties have valid arguments for respective causes. But in the modern debate, Democrats and Republicans trade blows, disowning the validity of each other’s arguments, perspectives, and worldviews, but offering very little in defense of those rejections all in the name of political gain. Here, we will call things as they are. We’ll back up our sources, and we’ll admit when we’re wrong – but most importantly when they are wrong. No one is safe from the chopping block, here. This is where politics will meet reality.

We, at Willis and Law, encourage you to join the discourse, to help us reshape the political dialogue within this country for the hope of a brighter day.

You can expect blog pieces to be posted every Monday and Thursday.
